About Us
Salem Run Quarter Horses offers a small breeding program producing young horses who are prepared, both physically and mentally, to meet the challenge of today's training programs. The farm was purchased in 2003, and is owned by Sandy Fentress. Day-to-day operations are managed by Sandy's newly retired parents and long time horse lovers, Dale and Virginia Walls . Facilities include nine stalls equipped with mats and automatic waterers, wash rack with hot and cold water, indoor arena, office/lounge, round pen, and pastures with PVC fencing for safety.
Salem Run Quarter Horses operates its program on the concept that outstanding horses require good pedigrees, sound bodies and good minds. In addition to well planned breeding, it is our goal to continue building on that foundation, not only through good nutrition and free exercise, but by focusing on handling and groundwork for foals, weanlings and yearlings to enhance their trust and receptiveness when ready to begin a regimented training program.
We are seeing the positive results of that approach with our 2005 foals, currently in training. Based on our desire to continue this one-on-one approach, our foal production will be limited to allow us to devote the time necessary to each young horse to maximize his/her potential as a show prospect.
Sandy works as a showroom manager and lighting designer, primarily in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area. Weekends are spent at Salem Run, or participating in regional AQHA shows at the amateur level, showing in Western Pleasure, Trail, Horsemanship, and Western Riding.
Salem Run Quarter Horses will be offering "A few good horses -- Bred for performance; Prepared for training". Your interest is appreciated. Thank you for visiting our website. We can be contacted as follows:
